Advocacy & Curriculum Development
As a parent, your child’s education is one of your paramount concerns. While the American education system provides a plethora of opportunities for educational and academic success in any number of arenas, there still remain a number of barriers to be overcome based on ethnicity, class, and learning styles.
To this end, Mwalim offers several consultancies in educational advocacy, as well as arts and language arts curriculum development for independent schools, as well as hybrid and home schooling.
Parent’s Advocate
As a trained Parent’s Advocate, Mwalim has provided assistance to numerous families in negotiating I.E.P.s (Individualized Education Plan)for students with learning disabilities, or those deemed ‘academically accelerated.’
Homeschooling Curriculum Development
Did you know that over 25% of each year’s freshman class at ivy league colleges were admitted with GEDs and/or were homeschooled? Many parents are opting to homeschool their children, which is an option with many advantages, as well as a few obstacles. Mwalim offers consultancies in developing K-12 language, performing & fine arts, social sciences, and humanities curriculums for individual parents and homeschooling groups and cooperatives. Curriculum designs are primarily meant for students wishing to pursue higher education.
HYBRID Curriculum Development
The introduction of standardized testing in many states has greatly compromised the existence and presence of many social and academic elements and enhancements, including the development of critical thinking. This often leaves students very poorly prepared for higher education, and/or vocational training.
Homeschooling and independent schools are not always an option for parents due to any number of reasons. The Hybrid model enables you to augment your child’s academic experience towards the development of the whole person.
Mwalim offers private consultations to individual parents or parent’s groups.
